Lights, Camera, Confidence: On-Camera Acting for Tweens

“Thanks to Carly, our daughter booked her first BIG lead — we can’t recommend Born To Act Studios enough!” -Jennifer & Vale Cooper (Happy Face, I was Honey Boo Boo)

8-Week On-Camera Acting for tweens (Ages 9–13)

For young actors ready to feel confident on camera and experience what a real film set is actually like!

This is not a drop-in kids’ class. It’s a small, focused group (max 10 students) where tweens learn:

  • How film acting differs from theatre

  • How to feel natural and grounded on camera

  • Professional set etiquette and vocabulary

  • Focus, presence, and emotional truth

Over 8 weeks, we build real screen skills — then apply them on a fully produced shoot day with a professional crew.

Limited to 10 spots.

What We Build Over 8 Weeks

  • On-camera fundamentals (eye lines, framing, subtlety)

  • Breaking theatre habits that don’t translate to film

  • Emotional truth and presence

  • Set vocabulary and professionalism

  • Confidence that carries beyond acting

Who This Is For

This course is ideal for tweens who:

  • Are transitioning from theatre to film

  • Are new to screen acting but eager to learn

  • Want to feel more confident speaking and performing

  • Are curious about how film sets actually operate

No experience required — just willingness and curiosity.

The Final Shoot Day

In our final week, we step onto a real set.

Each student:

  • Has a role

  • Works with a professional crew

  • Experiences blocking, marks, sound, and camera setups

  • Walks away with edited footage

“Oner” from Last Years summer camp

A "oner" in film is a single, uninterrupted, and long take that captures a scene in real-time without any visible physical cuts. It typically involves complex choreography of actors, camera movement, and lighting, designed to immerse the audience and create a sense of continuous, live action, such as in 1917 or Goodfellas.
